The first European settlers to come to this area of New Hampshire were Scots-Irish and English. They arrived around 1720, settling in the area that is now Londonderry and Derry (southeast of Manchester). Soon after, they made their way to what isnow Manchester. In 1751, the town was incorporated as Derryfield.
